Pardon at St. Philibert Church...and lunch afterwards
After a wonderful dinner on Saturday with Sally and Mike, we went to see the fireworks in their village, about a block from their house. The fireworks were awesome and we were about 20 yards from them, so we got the full effect, directly above us! Beautiful and orchestrated with music!
Then this morning, after getting a phone call from Ellen (who just arrived yesterday in Paris for a month), we went to church (Catholic) in St. Philibert and met Sally and Mike there. The church was filled to capacity and then some! We were lucky to get a seat.
The Pardon is the annual affirmation of the faith of the parish church, where they process around the community with their saints (icons) and relics. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pardon_(ceremony)
