We were invited by our neighbors for a lunch today that they have been wanting to arrange for a long time. A good opportunity arose when Michelle was free and their friends were available to join us. Jean Paul's grandparents owned the house where he and sometimes Michelle come to be near the sea. Michelle runs a B&B in Dournanez, about an hour north of us. Michel and Patricia live in Dournanez as well and they have been friends for a long time. Michelle and Michel were both born in Dournanez and Patricia was born in the US Northeast and when she was 16 she went to Paris to study French and never returned to the US~!!!! So of course, her English is perfect! Her family moved to America from Switzerland. None of her family now in the US (all of them) speak French, so Michel has learned some. They visit family often and they also belong to the Home Exchange....so they have traveled a lot all over the world. Jean Paul was born in a town about a mile from Kerdruc. They are all fascinating and we had a wonderful time talking (almost all in French!) for 6 hours!!!! It was well worth missing aquagym and French Conversation Group!
We had champagne, white wine, red wine, digestives, shrimp and avocado salad, langoustines, green salad, pork roast, potatoes and dessert....not necessarily in that order! Also a cheese course and coffee. What a meal!
Yesterday, we went to the beach for over an hour and had a wonderful time soaking up the sun! A bit windy and chilly, but awesome!

That is just the sort of day with new friends that makes being an expat so wonderful, Shirley! What a wonderful day. Tom, I am sure you are the friend-maker, and made friends with Michelle and Jean Paul. You two are awesome!
