Last Rose of Summer, Visit to Paris and Houseguest

It has been a busy few weeks and our little Peugeot has driven more kilometers than in the past year!  We are almost at our year's anniversary in France and it seems like a dream still.

Betty, Luic, Tom and Ellen near Dinan
Lots of photos of exciting places with my friend Ellen from Denver.   We drove to Paris to pick her up and spent one full day exploring some new places in Paris....the Jewish district, more of the Marais, and a wonderful visit to the Chateau Vaux le Vicomte near our hotel in Evry, south of Paris.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaux-le-Vicomte

We had a fabulous time and also visited the beaches of Normandy, Rouen, and Dinan where we stopped for a while to see our friends Luic and Betty.  We were treated to champagne and tiramisu.....and a dip in their pool....

We took bunches of photos, but here are some highlights!

Our final rose of summer!  Autumn is on its way....

Beautiful flowers everywhere and art deco pharmacy in background

Truck driver's mid day lunch!
We also found out what the sign on the rest area means.....FRITES.  We were looking for lunch and it was Sunday and not much was open, so when we stopped at the rest area, we saw a cute stand with tables and chairs and a tent.  We had steak hache....hamburger steaks and FRITES!  It was quite good for a quick stop on the way home!

Beautiful satin envelope from Ellen...thank you!

  3. No, we know what frites are.....we could not imagine a store selling just fries and we were far from civilization! The sign was a permanent one but the "restaurant" was not...they were even Polish owners. Good, fast food and just in time!
