We had heard of a tour of our nearby chateau d'Henan being held in September each year, but we did not realize it was part of the European Heritage Days......France has hundreds of sights open to the public this weekend, especially Paris. Here is an explanation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Heritage_Days.
So we were lucky to be two of the 20 people who signed up at the Information Office in Nevez for the 3:00 p.m. tour. The family who owns the chateau was apparently not there, but there was a groundskeeper who let us in. The chateau is beautifully renovated and since the tour guide only spoke French, we missed lots of interesting information, but hopefully, there will be something in print that we can translate....we know enough French to know that we are missing out on a lot! Here are some photos!
