Recuperating visitor and fun concert/wedding! Plans for Christmas made too!
| LaChelle and Tom at the Port (Kerdruc) |
Yesterday, we all went to a Cornish choir concert in Saint Philibert where Sally and Mike live, just a few minutes from us. The church is beautiful and we have been there before for services and their Pardon. The concert was supposed to begin at 5 pm, but there was a wedding going on! The wedding continued until after 5:30 and the crowd was rather large waiting to get in....the choir had at least 40 members! Suddenly, someone came out and talked to the organizers of the concert (choir master and both Sister City members from Concarneau and Penzance, UK). The bride and groom invited us all in and the choir sang one of their songs for them and their guests! The song was Can You Feel the Love Tonight by Elton John!
What a hoot and we got to see the wedding guests process out of the church...what a great wedding that couple had and what an exciting end of the ceremony! The choir was fantastic and we all were so amazed that the Brits and the French were able to work that out! The last 4 songs were in French and the French in the group really loved it!.....what a fun evening.
After the concert, Tom took LaChelle home (that was enough sitting for her!) and we were invited to Sally and Mike's house for a fantastic BBQ. What fun we had there catching up with Sally, Mike, Jim, Lynne and John. What a busy bunch of retirees we all are!
| Unexpected wedding and concert! Beautiful St. Philibert Church. |
We have also booked a house in Cornwall (funny coincidence!) for Christmas. Friends Rob and Clare contacted friends who have vacationed there and they recommended two rentals...one was already booked to Christmas week, so we jumped on it and made a deposit to hold it for us.....Pilla will also come and Calla MIGHT also! Can't wait for the pubs and English choirs and church services....but thinking about driving on the wrong side of the road will take some concentration! We got lots of good hints for things to do from Jim and Lynne....cannot wait!
Also, on Tuesday, we are off to Nantes to pick up newly retired Richard and Barb from Denver! Been a long time since we saw them! (they have been in Paris and Provence for 2 weeks already) After 2 days, we'll take them to Paris and they will return home and we will stay 4 days and visit with Anne (our neighbor who sold her house here) and then pick up Jane from Maryland for a visit to Kerdruc and then a few days in the Loire Valley before she heads to Provence for the rest of her vacation! LaChelle will continue her recuperating with Jilly and Rod in their gite on the other side of the Aven River from us...until we return. Thank you Jilly and Rod! Also had news of a good friend from Annapolis, Kathy, who will visit us in July with her British friend who recently returned to the UK from Annapolis! We are thrilled to have so many guests!!!!!!!!

Love the insane things that happen in your lives!
