Indian Summer in France and the passing of a dear friend

The past few weeks have been pristine weather for us in France.  Highs near 80 degrees and bright sunshine.  Lots of trips to the ocean have been very pleasant.  After several weeks of chilly weather in August, we have enjoyed the warmer temperatures and a quieter life with many of the tourists  gone.   School has started in France and many of the summer attractions have gone too, such as the special terroir market in our town of Nevez on Thursday afternoons.  

Also, our dear friend, Rod has passed away from leukemia and we will attend a service at the crematorium, which is traditional in France, but I do not know that this happens in the US.  There will also be an informal memorial service later.  Jilly will have a very hard time without Rod and we are not sure she will stay in Brittany.  She has 2 daughters in the UK.  This will create a huge gap in our French/English conversation group, which Jilly and Rod started with Yuna years ago.  Very sad!

Some photos of our Indian Summer.....our friends' sailboat (yacht) that we're hoping to sail on....just moved to our river recently.  Yes, the water is that beautiful and has been all summer....deep greens and blues!

Also, Tom found this great  aerial view of our neighborhood...our house is just off to the left out of sight.  Note the beautiful manoir on the right and the very high tide.

We are also very excited to be going to the US on October 1st.  We will see Calla through a minor hip tear repair and do lots of shopping.  Tom will also do some training in Connecticut. This will be Tom's first trip back in 2 years and 1 year for me!
