After hearing that Eric and Della (Della is the daughter of our friends Wayne and Peggy), were rescued from 5 days stranded with little food and water after the great earthquake of Nepal, we headed to the Loire Valley to see many cities and chateaus. Calla and I revisited Chambord and happened upon Meung and explored the city of Orleans while Tom recovered from an infection….and the three of us visited Clos Lucé, Chinon, Blois, Suscinio, Azay le Rideau, as well as seeing the exteriors of many more chateaus.
We also have another friend in Kathmandu, LaChelle, who spent a few weeks with us last summer in Kerdurc. She works there and was not injured in the quake, but her apartment is not safe. She is in Denver now visiting her brother. Eric and Della have a blog that they have kept over the past year on their around the world trip: Globe Gazers. They were also interviewed on television and radio as they were only a few of the trekkers who survived the quake.
