Lovely trip to the Charente Maritime and visit with Anna and family

We had a great trip to the area of La Rochelle for 3 nights to escape the wedding.  Got back to an empty field which was nice and quiet!  No word yet from neighbors on the noise…..

We also had a very unusual meeting with friends formerly of our Conversation Group.  Jackie and Alan were returning from visiting their son near Biarritz and we had followed their vacation on Facebook.  We spotted their car on the highway and then when we got off to get gas, they got off a few minutes later.  Just after we exited, we were asked to stop while some Customs Police asked us questions and asked to look into our trunk….along with another car of Brits ahead of us.  We were allowed to go just when Jackie drove by….so we had a good laugh and a cold drink….a good, albeit stressful few minutes….glad they were there to help relieve the tension!  Here are some pics from our trip!

with about 20 other people….much better than the hordes of people in Brest!

We had Claude and Maurice to dinner last night and they said that the wedding lasted until 6:30 a.m.!  The later the evening, the louder the music!  Even though their house is more than 100 yards up hill from us, they could still hear and even feel the base of the loud speakers!  They also said that they had seen 5 porta potties behind the tents in the woods…thank goodness!  We are soooo happy that we decided to get away - déménager!  Thanks to Claude for these photos!
