Farmer's Anger, Passports Expiring, Carte de Sejour due, photos of DC's snow, and fun trip to the dentist!

The farmers in all of France, especially Brittany, are angered by the import of cheap fruits and vegetables from other countries, such as Spain, Italy, etc.  This Tuesday afternoon, dozens of farmers brought huge truck loads of old tires, tree branches and other flammable things and dumped them onto the main highway near Quimperle…..a major route for southern Finistere and stopped traffic with impressive smoke and flames!  Glad we didn't need to get anywhere fast on the highway!  Today, Thursday, we went to the But store to look for a mattress topper and the traffic had been routed through very small towns and villages.  About 20 miles out of the way!  This was done to load up trucks to remove the still smoldering mess.

Also, Calla has enjoyed a few days away from her office due to Snowmaggedon 2.  She took the Metro on Wednesday to her office for part of the day and saw for herself what 4' of snow does to a city!  She's keeping her parking place as she worked very hard digging her car out……also pics of Ethan's car (really buried!) - before and after!

Preparing for the renewal of our long term visa, we discovered that our passports were expiring soon.  We went to the prefecture in Quimper and got information about what was needed this year and also made appointments….2 weeks after our visas expire….lots of foreign people here I guess!  Hope our new visas arrive before we fly to the Cote d'Azur at the end of February!  Can't wait to spend 2 weeks with Calla in a WARM climate after the huge amounts of rain we have had this winter!  

Also went to the dentist today and Tom and I had 2 simple things done, all in about 20 minutes ….. for the cost of 23 euros each!  That is about $25~!!!!!!
