Spring is here!
Lots of photos this post….Springtime birthday, great southern food finds at Asian market, visit to the Valley of the Saints with Jilly and Yuna; visit from Bert from Denver; and much more.
Carol, Jilly, Tom and I went to the portes ouvert at the newly remodeled Pont Aven Museum…beautifully remodeled space but too many people to be able to see everything…must go back! After the visit, we went to the car where Carol saw her old buddy that she visited for many years when she walked from her house to town to get bread. Carol moved to Concarneau about a year ago and the cat recognized her immediately! The cat was so excited to see her and you could really tell he missed her!
A visit to the Vallee des Saints with Jilly and Yuna … an incredible area….about 60 carved stone statues of the bretone saints on a hilltop just north of us about an hour away. The plan is to eventually have 1000 statues. The weather was off and on rainy and very windy….not a great day to visit, but we'll return in summer for a nicer visit!
A choral concert at the St. Philibert church of the two sister cities….Penzance, UK and Concarneau. The concert was fantastic with so many choristers…alternating English and French. The best part was the last piece which was a combination of the two choirs with the Cornish National Anthem and the Bretone Hymne. Of course we couldn't understand it but a Welsh person could have…both! Very similar languages; very moving!!!!
We are looking forward to 4 days in Paris with cousins John, Annie and Liz…celebrating Annie's graduation from the University of California Santa Barbara….in June! Also Five Guys Burgers is coming to Paris!!!!
We have also chosen the date for our 38th Annual Jambalaya….July 30th, 2016!!!! Come see us!
