Hot, dry summer in France!

We have had a very hot and dry summer this year…..very unusual for France!  Also a horrible terrorist attack on the beautiful Cote d'Azur!

We have been busy with the beginning of the tourist season in Brittany.  Lots of visits to the beautiful ocean to get tanned and two fun escapes to both to the south and north of us.

First, a beautiful wedding of friends Anna and Klauss in Ile d'Oleron, 4 1/2 hours south of us on the 1st of July.  They were married in the Mairie's office by a woman mayor!~  The mayor was a former student of Klauss' at University.  Many of Anna's family came from Poland and we had a wonderful time.  Then on July 14th to escape a wedding at the Bistrot below our house (you know (le bruit monte) noise rises!) to an hour north of us near Locronan.  We saw lots more of the area and were impressed!  Also had lots of dinners with visitors from Maryland….Carol and Brian.  They are staying with a rowing friend they made last year….Monique who lives near Concarneau.  We are very busy getting ready for our 38th Annual Jambalaya.  We have had the most amazing summer so far with temperatures up to 30+ degrees Centigrade (86F) and almost no rain for weeks and weeks!

  1. Looks like a great summer indeed. I find that weather appealing.
