Back in France after Surgery!
Well, I had to wait for a month to have my surgery...then they delayed it another day....Getting to DC was long...3 1/2 hour delay at CDG due to lack of personnel. But they did reimburse us 300 euros for the inconvenience. So my total wait time in the airport was about 8 hours! In that time, somehow my IPad disappeared...so another one was ordered when I got to DC. But finally I arrived in DC and had a nice time with Calla, then Jane in Annapolis for a week. Got to have dinner at Kathy and Allen's house and took Jane shopping almost every day! Then Calla and I went down to the Shenandoah Valley to a huge resort where we bought a week's extra vacation through RCI for the same price as a hotel for 3 nights....we stayed 4 days and had a nice time visiting wineries and and breweries in the countryside, having BBQ and Mexican food, and just enjoying the beautiful area with green mountains! Did some shopping too and got pedicures.
Then we returned to DC and I moved next door to Calla's apartment thanks to Mary Evelyn who was spending a week in Nova Scotia. Calla spent several days with me after my surgery as I was a risk for falling....really out of it for days and on codeine. Then back to Calla's and after a week, returned to the PA who took out the splints and 5 stitches...very painful! A week later, back to the airport where we were told that my plane was cancelled as it was still on the ground in Paris.! The Air France email was sent just after we left Calla's apartment, so we decided going back to DC at rush hour and then doing it all again the next day was too much, so they said they would pay for a hotel...so we got one and Calla stayed with me. We had a good dinner - steak - and had a good night's sleep! Then to the airport and on the plane....which sat on the tarmac for 2 hours because there were 4 planes instead of 3 going to CDG! What a mess! Luckily, I was rebooked to Amsterdam and then on a direct flight to Brest where Tom picked me up! Flying in the summer is not for me!!!!!
