3 weeks becomes 3 months!!!!! 2 flights cancelled, 3rd one a charm
Finally home! After 3 flights and 4 airports, we are now in Kerdruc with signs in French on our doors that we are *on self imposed quarantine for 2 weeks following an international flight*. We are looking forward to June 12 when we can get in our new car and see the ocean!!!!! We had a wonderful time in Washington, even though Shirley was recovering from a fused ankle. Calla and Mimo were wonderful hosts and it was awesome that Calla's friends Beau and Laura were quarantining on the Maryland shore, south of Annapolis, in their new second home. So Calla and Tom could trade off sleeping and working in a large one bedroom apartment and then we all shared meals in Calla's. Calla's last day in her office at NIH was March 13. After that, she worked a normal week by telecommuting. She worked very hard but was used to working from home.
Calla did all the shopping, with us sometimes going in the car....we enjoyed getting out even though we did not go into any stores. Masks were finally requested in elevators of her apartment building and by April, most people we saw were compliant....lot of people outside walking with masks too. Stores required them, even though we were In Virginia where they did not at one store! We were always aware of the people around us and it seemed that the young adults were the worst when it came to wearing masks and distancing.
We are so grateful to have such wonderful neighbors and friends who have brought our car to the Brest Airport (and took us to Brest long ago), done grocery shopping for us, and visited us from afar at the house and garden. It is good to be home, especially with a garden that we are able to sit and work in....wonderful weather here too! Hope you are all doing well too!!!!
