The tourist flood gates have opened! and Tom's biggest adventure
All of a sudden, there are tourists everywhere! The restaurants are full, grocery stores full, and probably all the camp sites are full. Guess the French, German, English and Dutch were released from their lockdown at the same time and fled to our part of the world! Have not been to the beach because of an infected heel (luckily a doctor was able to dig out the suture that was forgotten long ago after surgery), but that is probably a pandemic waiting to blossom! The people are all relaxed all of a sudden in large groups and masks are in the minority!
Our biggest adventure yet was Tom's this time....weeks ago, he had some uncomfortable feeling in his back and then chest. We went to the doctor who did an EKG, ordered a blood test and sent us home with instructions to call if this returned. A week later, Tom had more episodes, so we went back to the doctor....this time it was a YOUNG intern who did an EKG and then after much thinking, told us to drive to the hospital. At midnight, Tom's blood test came back (after an episode in the waiting room) and it was immediately decided he would be admitted. Luckily Shirley was able to drive after being off pain pills for a week!
The next day, after a late day angiogram, it was decided that Tom needed 2 stents and that he had had angina, not a full blown heart attack. It was too late in the day to do the procedure, and Friday was fully booked, so he spent the weekend in bed tied down by EKG leads, etc. So Monday, he had the stents inserted successfully and then spent another 2 days in the hospital...gradually able to walk around. So after a week at home, Tom is getting his strength back and it is nice to be able to sit in the sun and work in the garden! We are now trying to decide on his "reeducation" or physical therapy.....
