Autumn vacation in the Italian & Swiss Lakes
We had another spectacular vacation in Italy and Switzlerland. Flying to Milan was pretty easy with Easyjet......delayed flight, change in bording gate, etc. But short flight at midnight. Milan was hard with Tom having had a bad chest cold and I caught it later...then Calla caught it later.....our story doesn't change much from vacation to vacation..... We did get to see the top of the Milan Duomo and the inside too (impressive). Then on to the Passage and downtown...very nice city! Then on to Bergamo for 4 days and very impressive churches, also beautiful city with old town far above. Then on to Sulzano on Lake Isola. Very relaxing and beautiful apartment overlooking the lake and Monte Isola. We took a side trip to Brescia which we found to be very beautiful with Roman ruins, huge basilica and churches with painted walls. We also found a restaurant specializing in meat! Then to Valsolda on the border of Italy and Switzerland on an apartment on the lake - Lugano. Tom was spending lots of time in Emergency rooms with a skin infection on his leg. He had swelling and fevers. Two months later, we hope he is better with several different antibiotics.
In November, I went to Washington to shop with Calla. She didn't get a car, but we had fun getting winter clothes for us and socks for Tom. Loved the food! BBQ, Tex Mex, corned beef, egg nog....and the list goes on! Now we're getting ready for a very quiet holiday.
