Visa Approval, Tartiflette, and the sun is shining (for now at least)
Good news! Our visas have been extended for another wonderful year in France! Come see us! We have had some promises of visits already and the weather has to get better! Spring is in the air and the birds are back! Lots of bees on the Camelia bushes and the Mimosa promises to be really glorious soon.
We had a fun evening at the Tartiflette in Nevez on Saturday with British and French friends. Great Tartiflette (much better than last year) and good fun.
Monday was a great, rainy day in Quimper picking up our new visas....yea! and visiting our neighbors, Claudine and Henri, who have renovated a 16th century house in the old town. What an awesome job with amazing results! Every detail was beautiful and they have decorated so nicely that it looks like a museum. Lots of beautiful paintings, furniture and objects from Brittany.
Their house is next to La Maison de Patrimoine, which houses offices dedicated to protecting the history of the city (http://en.quimper.fr/664-the-town-s-history.htm).
Henri has used his skills as a surgeon to build ships in bottles. He has completed many and they are awesome. It has been hard not seeing them here at the Port though, but they promise to come back to stay for a while in April. At least they stop by once in a while to check on their home here. They were surprised last week to find their basement had about 4 inches of water in it....the sump pump was broken!
