Summer winding down but Kerdruc preparing for the event of the century!

Banner year for grapes and tourists!
The tourists have been enjoying our area like never before!  The biggest year for France tourism!  School starts again soon and we expect a drop in the numbers of tourists….this year from Germany, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, and of course the United Kingdom!  A definite increase in German and Belgium as seen from the numerous license plates.  The weather cooled off since June (which was our best month for the beaches) and we have had some cold, rainy days….reminders of the winter to come….

But the biggest news for our hamlet is the Wedding scheduled for the 4th and 5th of September!  In the field behind our house, 6  men worked for 2 days erecting two tents…..  We were not warned of the upcoming festivities so we searched out the owners of the field.  Mme. Publier told us that  the bride and groom are from Paris but their grandparents are from Port Manech. She said they were the "gentry" of Port Manech….these structures must cost a lot of Euros to rent!  They are having 300 guests.  The day after the tents were finished, we received a note in our mailbox from the parents saying that they prayed that we would excuse them for the eventual, occasional discomfort!  In French:  Nous prions par advance de nous excuser pour l'èventuelle gêne occasionnée.  It also said it would last from 18h30 jusqu'a 05h30, le dimanche matin….which means it will start at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and end at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday!

We're also wondering where they will put porta pottys for 300 people!  Update to come…...

Just when it was getting quiet, we were witness to the Pipe Band on their way to the Belle Angele Festival in Pont Aven. We've seen this every year and it is nice to see it from our upstairs bedroom window.  Nice!  Sorry about the shaky video….
