Trip to Gavinis....an island in the Morbihan

Yesterday was an outstanding day in Brittany.  Sunny and warm!  We went to the Morbihan Department with Mike and Sally to see one of the most amazing burial chambers of Brittany on the island of Gavrinis.  We took the ferry boat to the island and had a lecture in French....but brochures were in English.  The temperature went up to 19 degrees C and the whole day was beautiful.  Before lunch at a favorite creperie in Le Bono, we headed to the Tumulus in Kernours.  Just another wonderful sight in an idylic setting…  Saw some huge, creepy caterpillars which Sally said have overwhelmed towns in the South of France and they are migrating north!  Toxic!  

The video shows our view from Gavrinis island of the strong tide current.....see the boat fly by!  Amazing. This turbulent tide in the Vannes River channel, as the Gulf of Morbihan fills and empties, is probably the source of the island's name.
