Aperitifs at our house with neighbors and Veteran's Day Parade and wreath laying ceremony by the Mayor
What a wonderful evening we had enjoying aperitifs with our neighbors. Two neighbors were not able to come: one neighbor was performing in Portugal (Eric the trumpetist) and another neighbor, Jim, was not feeling well. Michelle was with us earlier before we took the photo, but she left to check on Jim.
It was a good way to escape from the rain we have had so much of the past week. Marie Christine and Jean Luc own a vacation home nearby and they are returning to Lille tomorrow. We would love to see them more often!
The ceremony to lay a wreath at the Nevez Cemetery was nice, albeit wet and chilly, with Lynne. We understood more of the speech given by our Mairie...and it was much shorter this year. Nice to get to catch up with Lynne too. There are still many veterans of WWII who attend each year and widows of others too. Lynne left two wooden crosses she got from the UK, one from the group that her father belongs to and one that Lynne worked for.
