Bonne Année et Bonne Santé!

Typical Normandy House
It's New Years' Eve and we returned from our 10 day trip to Belgium on Saturday evening.  It feels very good to be back in the quiet hamlet of Kerdruc..where we are about 8 people now in the area around our house.....two more people have just returned from the Paris area.

Caen
Southern Belgium has some beautiful places, but there was evidence of a rather tired economy in the big cities. Brussels is where the action was and so were thousands of tourists....lots of "American" visitors, as well as some Dutch, Germans, Italians, Spanish, British and French!  We certainly enjoyed the Belgian beer, hardy food, and chocolate.  Also found a new appreciation for the Belgian waffle....we had only tried waffles in Amsterdam and found them tasteless....but Belgium has the best!

We got home to lots of goodies in the mail!  Thanks to all for the wonderful cards and thanks to the Holston cousins for the wonderful care package!  Also thanks to Ellen for the wonderful cards of her exquisite photos from her visit to Paris and Kerdruc!

Great news from several friends who are planning to visit us in 2014!  We are so excited!  We are slowly seeing many new places in France and have so much more to see!

Here are some photos of our trip back to France.....spent more time in Caen this time after spending the night there.
