Ups and Downs
Well, it has been an odd December for us, mostly because Tom has not been as busy as normal and he isn't comfortable when idle...the past few days have picked up to a rugged pace, so he is himself again! It is also hard for me as I am missing my daughter more this year even though she was just with us in October. I think last year was easier as it didn't feel like Christmas and we were just so overwhelmed with being new here. We are, however, looking forward to driving to Belgium and spending a week at the timeshare there with Pilla, our friend from Norway. We spent last Christmas together and it has become a tradition! Yea! Hope the snow holds off while we are driving up and back.....
Good news on Calla's job situation. She has been hired by the new company and seems to really like it. She had some work at home days with some snow and ice storms early this week.
Today we have had some rain.....it has been dry for weeks! Here are some photos of our past few weeks...went to a lessons and carols service on Sunday near Baud with the English Church there. There were about 15 people and they did a great job of reading lessons and singling carols with the addition of recorded music from the internet as the organist was not there.....we had to sing over some of the renditions as they were probably American recordings....this was the British church! The Catholic Church in the town of Guenin allows the congregation to use the meeting house across the street. It is a traditional Breton house and the upstairs is perfect as it looks like a chapel...with slanted roof. We'll definitely go back for more services when there is a visiting pastor. The people were very warm and welcoming and made us feel at home immediately. There was coffee and tea after the service and we talked to everyone. A great service that definitely had a British touch...very touching and well done! Then we drove home the scenic route to Hennebont near Lorient. Beautiful, sunny day! Also, beautiful ocean at Tahiti Plage....
