Pêche à pied at Raguénez Plage

Pêche-à-pied is translated as "fishing on foot".  We have been interested in this and our neighbor said she would show us how to do it someday....and when she said she was going after our conversation lesson, we said we'd love to go.  So, we are now pros at it and we collected almost a kilo of palourdes...in 2 hours for me, Tom and Anne and then Anne stayed another 15 minutes.  It was quite impressive...maybe beginner's luck, but we had a great time in the beautiful sun and warm temps with almost no wind!

Anne joined us this morning to watch us cook them to see if our method was correct.....we had purchased some clams from our neighbor who is an ostréiculteur and read Internet recipes and had a great meal.  That meal cost almost 10 euros, but today's was just gas to drive to the beach......much better tasting too!

Here is a translated article explaining what we did:
(This link is the region – Vendée – just to the south of Bretagne. That's three departments south)

  2. I sat on the big rocks and did not squat! It was so much fun, just like being a kid and digging in the sand. The clams were delicious!
