Wonderful Thalassotherapy Spa and everyday....
After a busy week of working non-stop, Tom finally found a day to rest and rejuvenate at the Thalassotherapy Spa in Bénodet, south of Quimper. It was our second visit to this spa and it was much less crowded and noisy....Christmas holidays are busy with families! We even participated in the aqua gym class which lasted 20 minutes. There were probably only 30 people in the pool and it was very relaxing. We walked back to our car along the boardwalk at Bénodet and enjoyed the beautiful beach and ocean view! We are hoping we'll still be here in the summer to enjoy the warmth and the water!
Other everyday things we thought you'd be interested in:
Our local newspaper and television guide - after learning most of the TV channels, they changed many of them this week, so it's more learning new ones!
Endive salad with walnuts (California), fromage de chèvre and local honey....endive is very plentiful and cheap and we need to learn what all the French do with it....also leeks are everywhere! We're trying new leek recipes, including making soup (about the only thing in the US that's very common) with it and it was delicious. Also found candied fruit for fruitcake...to make someday...and many new wines to try. Kikkoman low sodium soy sauce (Happy Chinese New Year!) and some relishes and things. All of the supermarket chains added expanded Asian sections two weeks ago — maybe dictated by the French government or something? So much fun shopping in France...there are so many new things to try and it is amazing what there is that is familiar to us, and so many things that are different! We found that the oatmeal here is rolled so finely that it is mushy and the elbow macaroni is tiny and loses its taste in macaroni salad...the next time we go to the Casino store, we'll take a photo of the "English and American" sections which are a little odd.........and we're also excited to see Wayne and Peggy in a month and possibly join them in Provence and try new things there too!
Tuesday, February 12th, we're off to OFII (Office français de l’immigration et de l’intégration) to see about our visa extension.....please keep us in your thoughts and prayers! Thanks!
