Glorious rain after so much sunshine!
We had 2 days of wonderful rain after so many sunny days and we really enjoyed the change. No one at the Port and we didn't have to water the lawn! Love the peace and quiet! Spring has certainly arrived and we have even had thunder with wind. Temperature got down to almost freezing yesterday and we are supposed to be able to plant without a frost now.....strange weather everywhere!
We visited the beach yesterday since we have been cooped up in the house with weather and work. Went to Rospico where we had the beach almost to ourselves.....just a few hikers and a group of school kids playing. We love the clean beaches!
Also, we are supposed to be getting new carpet in the upstairs of the house. Our landlord is sending a "fitter" from England with carpet next Tuesday. He will stay in the apartment next door and leave on Wednesday. This should be interesting! Apparently carpet is exorbitant here in France.
Also, we have begun our French lessons (conversation) with our neighbor, Anne. She has graciously offered to spend an hour twice a week with us to help us with our French.......another angel has appeared on the horizon! We had our first visit and it was lots of fun. We are going to concentrate on the basics now as our vocabulary is fair but sentences are awful. So, we have 10 days to memorize some verb conjugations and get up to speed! She is so patient with us and she is very interesting. Her apartment in Paris has a leak and they can't find the source, so she is going to be spending more time in Kerdruc this summer. Our fortune!
Our next visitor is coming July 1-8 to spend a week in a house that is owned by our landlord's friend, whom we met when the person came to measure for the carpet. It is a summer house and it is rented through a website called Holiday Lettings. Can't wait to see Jane, her daughter, granddaughter (6 years old), and son-in-law. They will first be spending a week each in London and Paris. Jane has been to Brittany before, but I don't think her family has been. They will love the beach, which is closer to their house than ours!
Also, last week, the three of us (me, Lynne and Sally) went to the fabric store and I bought 3 pieces of fabric for table cloths....and the red one is perfect! Very French....and the muguet, (lillies of the valley), are from Anne's garden with the prettiest Columbine..didn't know they had the state flower of Colorado here!
